Five Million Reasons to Celebrate

Hello Mermaid Fans!

I’ve been doing some number crunching back in the office, and I am pleased to report the following:

On Friday, January 18, 2013, an amazing event took place at Playhouse Square Theatre in Cleveland, Ohio.  When the audience was seated for the 12:00pm show of Guess How Much I Love You & I Love My Little Storybook, Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia welcomed their 5 millionth spectator!  That show brought our 40-year total to 5,000,298 spectators.  When you add in the Treasured Stories by Eric Carle tour which also had shows that day (but started later due to the time zone), we ended that day with 5,000,862 spectators.

As of the end of February, 2013, Mermaid has welcomed 5,039,723 spectators at 11,646 performances, for a lifetime average of 433 spectators per performance.

5millionThank you so much to the millions of people who’ve come out to see us!  We couldn’t have done it without you.

Have a great week!

  1. Thanks for a great school show at the Fredericton Playhouse, Monday, April 8th, 2013. The 650 primary students were captivated from the moment the caterpillar egg hatched and their attention continued throughout the show. It is probably the best audience reaction at a school show I have seen in the 11 years I have volunteered with the Playhouse’s Front of House Club. Keep up the great work!
