Happy Birthday Mermaid!

Thank you to everyone who came out to our 40th Birthday Party last Saturday.  We were so pleased to see so many people out despite the rain.  We’re also sorry if you didn’t get a hot dog…we had 300 of them, so we thought we had it covered.  But there was plenty of popcorn to go around, and we had a nearly-full house for the final Treasured Stories by Eric Carle performance of our 2011-2012 tour.

And we certainly had plenty of cake!

We also received some lovely cards, gifts and donations from our board of directors, local businesses, former Mer-people and volunteers.  We couldn’t have done it without your help.

Thanks also to our many visitors, including Kings-Hants MP Scott Brison and Windsor Mayor Paul Beazley who were on hand to help us celebrate.

Another round of thanks goes to our West Coast crew, who couldn’t be at the celebration because they were still giving their last few performances of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Favourites in Seattle.  They should be back on the road today or tomorrow to return to Windsor, but that didn’t stop them from sending along birthday greetings via YouTube

Finally, if you follow us on Facebook, you’ll see we posted a Mermaid 40th Birthday greeting from Eric Carle himself.

Have a great weekend, and safe travels to Shawn, John Allen and Emma, who have a long drive ahead of them.

Mayor Beazley speaks on the office stairs during our 40th Birthday Party, June 9, 2012.
